Welcome to the Jensen Piano Studio!

Hey fellow musicians!

My name is Jodie Jensen. I've been playing the piano for 21 years now. I took lessons up through college and graduated with a minor in music from BYU. I've taught for about 3 years and have had students of a variety of ages and skill levels - beginner to advance, ages 6 to adult! I grew up in Alpine, Utah and currently live in Lehi, Utah. I teach in both of these locations.

I have two main passions in life: music and international humanitarian/development aid. I majored in Sociology in college and worked for the past two years as a Program Director for a small non-profit that works in West Africa. It has been an amazing experience, but now I'm on to the next amazing stage of life - motherhood! I now have one little baby and want to spend more time with her. Thus, I'm reopening my piano studio that has been dormant for the past few years.

While the link may not be immediately apparent between my two passions, I have learned some incredibly valuable skills while working in non-profit. Particularly, I've become skilled in teaching methods that work in Africa as well as in the US. I have learned that skill building is directly linked with personal, social and structural motivation. A student - even a piano student - has to find a personal connection with the task at hand. They then need to be motivated by their peers and opinion leaders (fellow students and parents, for example) and need proper incentives to put in the work that is necessary to achieve their goals. I'm excited to share these tools and many others with you - either if you're the student or the student's parent. Call or email me to set up a free first lesson where we can discuss your expectations and mine.
